Our Trainers

Our trainers are practical, down to earth people who have extensive knowledge of Muslim culture and experience of working with the Muslim Community. They are mostly drawn from our research and field staff. Their approach is based on real life problems and challenges. Some of our regular trainers are:


Batool Al-Toma

She is co-ordinator of the New Muslims Project at the Foundation. She graduated in Islamic Studies and is a lecturer in gender, social and environmental issues. She has also facilitated various training programmes related to parenting and family issues. She is also a trustee of FAIR, the Forum Against Islamophobia and Racism.


Dilwar Hussain

A Research Fellow at the Islamic Foundation focusing on the subject of Muslim minorities in Europe. He is also pursuing a PhD in the same subject and serves on the editorial team of the Muslim World Book Review, an academic journal. He has been involved in numerous British and European Muslim organisations and regularly trains and lectures on a broad range of Islamic and cultural issues catering for both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences.


Mohammad Seddon

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Religious Studies from the University of Lancaster, where he is currently undertaking his Doctoral research on the Muslims of Manchester. He has been employed in specialist posts relating to Muslim youth work, education and teacher training and inter faith initiatives. He has published works relating to Islam and has several more currently in progress.


Dr Ataullah Siddiqui

He is a Research Fellow at the Foundation and is Head of its Inter Faith Unit. He is the Editor of Encounters: Journal of Inter-Cultural Perspectives. He has lectured and conducted training courses widely for a number of years. He is also involved with a number of Muslim community organisations.


Dr Manazir Ahsan MBE

Currently Director General of the Islamic Foundation. He has delivered talks, lectures and conducted training sessions for a wide range of audiences over many years. He has written a number of books including Islam: Faith and Practice and The Muslim Guide. He has served as the Chair of the National Interfaith Network.
